Bookworms and Technology

While I know little about technology, I can still enjoy all the blessings that come from the knowledge and achievements of others. We are truly blessed in our day to have so many tools to enjoy information and stories. As a bookworm, I am embracing the opportunities as much as I can.

  • I will always be reading a book with more stacked beside my bed and a list of holds at the library.
  • I will always be listening to an audio book in my car when I drive and have a stack waiting for me to enjoy.
  • I have audio books I listen to on my computer while I am working or relaxing.
  • I have e-books downloaded on my computer kindle.
  • I have e-books on the kindle on my Android.

Recently, I finished reading my first book on my phone. I was proud to have taken that step. At some point, I will get a real e-book reader but for now, my phone will work fine. Thanks to technology, I can read or listen to a book everywhere I go. What can be better than that?

I know I’m not the only one who has this many books going at once. I’d love to hear your story about your adventures with books and technology–high-tech or low-tech.

Are we griping about our spouse?

Love for Daughters

We all love to talk about the things that bring us joy in life. As readers of this site know, books and writing are two of mine. However, there is much more to me than that.

In addition to God and my beautiful wife, my daughters are the greatest joy in my life. In fact, daughter is one of my very favorite words.

Spiritual Maturity

How can we grow the church if we are not prepared spiritually to do so? If we are acting like spoiled children, we cannot represent Christ. Find out how spiritual growth is the real answer to church growth!

The one thing needed by most congregations of the Lord’s Church doesn’t cost a penny. We can put millions into new buildings, exciting entertainment and comedians in the pulpit.

However, the problems are internal and they are causing great damage among God’s people. The importance of spiritual maturity in our Christian lives cannot be overestimated.

Without it, we can destroy the Lord’s work in the communities we serve. Spiritually immature Christians are deadly to the work of the Church. They bring the sins of the flesh into the Lord’s body and we fight, argue, divide and misrepresent Christ to the world.

New Purpose and Design

Hello, readers. I apologize about doing a poor job updating the site. Truth is that my lack of focus on writing has matched my recent life trajectory. There’s a story. There’s always a story.

I was leading a local writers’ group and because of health problems and lack of time, I had to drop the group and the time I was spending on writing fell behind, as well.

Since I have this site, and so much to say, I am opening it up to a more general purpose so I have a place to express myself in whatever ways I choose. Being me, certain things will always be present — humor, darkness, light, books, reading and writing will always spill from my pen. They are perpetual companions.

As a writer, columnist and editor of a religious e-zine, my articles will be represented here.

Moreover, my health problems have largely dominated my life, recently. How could I ignore them? I can’t. Here’s why.

Fibromyalgia is the unwanted guest in my life. They have unpacked their suitcase, and their clothes are in the drawers like they are staying awhile. I have threatened, cajoled and insulted but they won’t leave. So, I might as well let them speak.

It will take some time to get everything on the site situated to suit my new purposes. Life is very busy right now. Comments on the new design will be appreciated.

Thanks to all of my faithful readers and I hope you will stay with me as I change my focus here at the Moving Word. I hope all of you have a blessed day!

Hey, don’t stop reading out there!
