Fibromyalgia: Will We Fight?

darklight786

by Richard Mansel

Fibromyalgia is a terrible illness, and there isn’t a cure. It isn’t going away. It suddenly appeared but it isn’t likely to vanish overnight. It’s a dark and evil thing but it’s here and must be faced. Ignoring it won’t help.

If we can’t get rid of it, we have to decide how we will react to it. Failing to make a proactive decision is concession and defeat. Action must be taken on a conscious level. We fight for victory or we surrender with timidity.

We can admit that this illness is here, and we must DO something in response. We must take a stand and fight or it will destroy us. We must be men and women and prove we are stronger than this enemy. Our lives have too much to offer to curl up in a ball and die.

We can do two things to fight Fibromyalgia.

First, we decide what kind of attitude we will have about this illness. This is a thorny issue among Fibro sufferers. Some find it ridiculous that anyone could have a positive outlook when they are so miserable. How can they when they do not see any hope or answers?

The answer is reality. Imagine we are trapped in a house and a killer is somewhere in the building.  After a moment of fear and grieving, we decide that we will either win go down fighting with honor. It is no different with Fibro.

Negativity is blackness and it can smother us. It becomes a power of its own and the stress that results from this darkening of our mind and spirit causes more pain. The more we become wrapped in negativity, the more like surrender it becomes.

Feeling sorry for ourselves is human. But what we choose to do after that is our decision. We will grieve for a long time that we have lost so much of ourselves. However, we still face new days and we can choose to see the sunshine or we can burrow into blackness.

By choosing to have as positive an attitude as we can muster, we are taking up arms to fight. We are realistic, but we are fierce. We will CHOOSE to smile, regardless of the pain. We will CHOOSE to make the best of a terrible situation.

Second, we control what we will do with our aching bodies in terms of rest, diet and fitness. While Fibro is beating us up, we can fight by taking care of ourselves in defiance. When we destroy our bodies, we are helping the Fibro win. Fibromyalgia may be attacking us, but we will not surrender our health completely!

We cannot avoid this decision. In fact, we have already made it. All we can do is decide if we will continue down the path we are taking or take a better path.

Be strong. Be Fibro strong!

Finding Free E-Books

ebooks1111

Most of us bookworms love the texture and feel of a book in our hands. Books are our passion and they fill our lives and houses. Our stacks of books-to-be-read are tall enough to be in second grade.

We carry books everywhere we go and we measure time by our bookshelves.

We live and breathe reading. While we promise never to give up our bound books, our voracious appetites have created a precarious situation.

While we publicly consider ourselves immune to the electronic book explosion, we privately seethe that we are being left out of the party.

Our favorite authors release books or novellas that cannot be found in hardback or paperback form. We complain loudly that we are being forced to move into the scary world of e-books.

We use book money hidden under our mattresses to slink into stores in the black of night to buy e-readers like fugitives eluding the police.

Soon, we learn that two of our favorite words have joined forces to make the world a more beautiful place. We shake and shiver and with all of our energy as we scream FREE BOOKS!!!!!

Suddenly our fears fall like scales from our eyes and we load up on more e-books than we can ever read. We become free book junkies lost forever to reason!

Books! Books! Books! We laugh maniacally! We can hoard books and no one can see them! HAHAHAHA!

OK. Settle down.

In truth, the internet is teeming with free e-books for us to read. Here are a few places to procure them.

Oh, and try to remain calm. Just explore and click away. And remember to check your blood-pressure when needed.

NOTE: I am new to the search and if you know of other resources, say so in the comments and I will check them out and add them if necessary.

You can get free Kindles from Amazon for your computer or smart phone.

Most libraries are allowing people to check out e-books for a specified time. However, you must read them during the prescribed time or they will disappear from your reader.  Just go into your public library and ask them about this service.

If you go to Google and search for free e-books, be wary because some of them want you to pay to get free books. Personally, I don’t pay for free things.

Immodesty Meets Reality

The only possible motives for women intentionally showing off their bodies, namely their cleavage, are:

  • No one can tell that they can’t
  • If you got it, flaunt it.
  • Everyone else is doing it.

If we wrap all of these into one Idea for the sake of illustration, we see the real problem with intentional immodesty. This idea is no different than Mary and her little lamb-everywhere Mary went, her lamb was sure to follow.

If Mary goes left, the lamb goes left. She can’t go anywhere outside where the lamb will not pursue her.

The aforementioned Idea’s lamb is unwanted attention. Idea cannot ever hope to go out in public where Unwanted Attention will not follow. Unwanted Attention will pursue Idea no matter where it goes.

Immodesty is contrary to human nature and that will never change. Unwanted attention will never be banished by political correctness, indoctrination, anger or violence. Unwanted Attention will always persist in the chase.

Even if women were modest and chaste, unwanted attention would still exist. However, it would be much less aggressive.

Immodesty activates the hunger of Unwanted Attention and it will not be satisfied by anything that Idea thinks or wishes. Unwanted Attention is primal and not subject to reasoning.

The only way Unwanted Attention can be controlled is by degrees. Lower the temperature and Unwanted Attention slows down and becomes less active.

In a strange twist, Idea also seems to be lacking the ability to reason. No matter what anyone says or does, Idea persists in the hopeless idea that they can put a leash on Unwanted Attention and control it. This is impossible as long as Idea exists.

Fighting against the impossible is like yelling at a mountain to move out of our way.

Immodest women will never be able to control who notices them. When an attractive woman walks into a room, everyone-men, boys, women and girls-all turn to watch. It’s human nature and will not change.

If that is true of women in general, it would obviously be more pronounced if she were half-dressed.

Yet, immodest women still insist that only attractive men will notice their immodesty. Undesirable men will ignore them because, well, they just should. No intellectual reason, just coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Judah perceived that Tamar was available because of where she was and how she was dressed (Genesis 38).

Intentionally immodest women are proclaiming themselves available sexually and nothing can change that fact. Idea can get mad, yell, protest and picket.

Immodesty can stand and yell at that mountain until they are hoarse and that mountain isn’t moving.
